OUR MOTTO

To be the animal advocate, relentless in our pursuit of justice for our animal friends.

Vision & Philosophy

A world where –

  • Animals can wake up every morning with joy in their eyes and hope in their hearts

  • Animals are not treated like machinery to generate income but as co-passengers in the journey of life

  • Animals are not abused in the name of entertainment or science

  • Animals are not allowed to live only to be turned into food

  • Social sanction would deter violation of animal rights

  • Animals and environment are understood and accepted as being an intrinsic link in the chain of life

PFA intervenes as an animal advocate in the interest of the animal. We use “Sama Bheda Dandopayam”, i.e. techniques to pacify, portray, teach what may happen and punish the offenders, in that order.

REPORT CRUELTY

OPERATION KARUNA

On the 4th of June, Team PFA rescued 87 camels being illegally transported to Hyderabad for meat. About 90% of the camels were sick from dehydration, malnutrition and maggot-infested injuries. An FIR was lodged against the camel handlers and after a brief legal battle, the court granted custody of these animals to PFA. Arrangements are underway for transporting them back to Rajasthan.

COCK FIGHTING

Cockfighting is a blood sport in which razor-sharp blades are tied to the claws of two roosters. They are then made to fight each other to death while people place bets on them. In addition to cruelty to animals, cockfighting is often linked to other crimes, such as illegal gambling, robbery, drug use or selling, and even murder. The cockfighting betting ring in Andhra Pradesh often runs into crores. Children are often present at cockfights, and exposure to such violence can promote insensitivity to suffering and an enthusiasm for bloodshed. Say no to this cruel and illegal sport, call the helpline 07674922044 if you witness cockfights.

I believe that whether it is the day, a year, or even one's life- it can slip away meaningless if you do not choose how you want to use it. Choose your purpose. There is so much suffering and injustice, destruction around that here is the place one begins to awaken and understand life.

Animals are fine on their own in nature- but when in contact with humans domesticated, they do not have a voice to express their trauma from exploitation and abuse - hence we must speak up for them. Animal rights exist because there are grave wrongs.

Vasanthi and Dr. Lakshmi, Dr. Ramana were my first friends in Hyderabad way back in 1992 when we attended training together organized by the Animal Welfare Board of India. They found me, they took me into their circle and they supported me when my husband and I started Blue Cross of Hyderabad. Smt. Maneka Gandhi was also there to support us and guide us on how to make a difference for the animals. I find PFA Hyderabad are relentless and persistent, despite the odds, the threats, the cost, the tears, to highlight animal suffering and pursue justice.

They are fearless, focused and first forward when it comes to helping animals. They are also very overworked, under-funded and misunderstood. But I know they are out there working every day, determined to make a difference- and this is way better than many I know, claiming the same.

I have known Vasanthi Vadi from the day we started People for Animals together. She has, over the years, with very little money and absolutely no government or corporate help, put together an organization which has saved thousands of lives.

People for Animals Hyderabad/Secunderabad is compassionate, driven, but far more importantly, mature, professional and organized like a corporate entity. There are different divisions for rescue, anti cruelty and animal birth control. They are totally committed and trained, as are all the PFAs across India, towards bringing a harmonious interaction between people and animals and making sure that animals get the protections they need and deserve. Every animal under their purview is taken care of, especially the terminal cases.

It is because of People for Animals that animals have become a part of government policy and animal cruelty is now frowned upon. People who treat animals badly are now aware that they can and will be prosecuted. We are still a long way from achieving the goal of having one shelter in every district and a trained body of volunteers. But if corporates and government can step in to join hands with People for Animals we can make the country for humans and animals.

I am very proud of People for Animals and I congratulate Vasanthi and her team on their selfless and excellent work. You should join them.

Thank you for the timely help, very satisfied with everything. Thanks to you rocky, rest in peace. Thank you.

Vijayalakshmi, Crematorium

We came here today to cremate our 7 ½ year old pet LEO (Beagle). Thank you so much for providing such selfless service to our beloved pets when on their heavenly journey. Everything is fine except for one aspect, the death certificate. Kindly do provide that to the bereaved family. Thank you

Mr. Joshi from your office visited today along with one volunteer Mr. Rustom Ahluwalia and we had a discussed as I was feeding the stray dogs in a public place due to which the dogs where coming in the apartment and we’re causing a little issue for the apartment people due to which the officers had given me a solution to feed them across the road where no one will have a problem and then Mr. Joshi had spoken to the apartment people and had explained informed them that they will not have any problems here after and if by any chance, if any, Mr. Joshi will be handling the issue, said in the politely manner and to give 10 to 20 days of time so that I can get them use to the new place and avoid entering towards the apartment building. I sincerely thank Mr. Joshi & Mr. Rustom Ahluwalia for coming and supporting me in resolving the matter peacefully

This is regarding a blind and lame dog that was located at Mehdipatnam. I have followed your guidelines, the person brought back the dog but wanted to be taken away in 2 days. You promised to help us and Mr. Joshi was coordinating with me, he visited the place and counselled the watchman. He was able to convince him with an assurance that we would help him in keeping surroundings clean. God Bless. Thanks to you & Joshi Sir for resolving the matter
