A milestone in rabies prevention!

On the occasion of the 10th World Rabies Day, the National Veterinary Foundation (NVF) carried out a vaccination drive at PFA Emergency Rescue Home, and also vaccinated around 100 dogs in the surrounding areas such as Muslim jung pul, Purana pul, Jummerat bazaar, Begum bazar and Chandulal Baradari.

We would like to thank NVF for the initiative, and hope to organize more events that promote rabies awareness!

Anti-Rabies Vaccination Drive

PFA Hyderabad conducted an ARV drive on the occasion of World Zoonosis Day. We successfully finished the ARV drive for 70 dogs in Old City, Hyderabad.

A Walk for a Mother – Rally Against Animal Abuse

A rally was organized by People for Animals Hyderabad, to protest at the horrendous way a mother dog with pups was killed in Kukatpally, Hyderabad.

The event was a massive success with over 300 animals lovers gathering to protest and the local media turned up in big numbers to cover the proceedings. The march titled `Walk for a Mother’ had volunteers from animal rescue and welfare organisations like People for Animals (PFA), Blue Cross, Caring Hands for Animals (CHFA), Hyderabad Pet Adoption (HPA) and Animal Rescue Team India (ARTI), etc., coming together after reading an eye witness’ account of the brutal killing of the dog on a popular social networking site.

Awareness and ARV Camp

An awareness and ARV Camp was conducted at dubai gate, Hashmatpet area. We successfully finished the ARV drive for 90 dogs in this drive.

Ending cruelty in hen slaughter

A campaign to end the trail of cruelty in the transportation, handling, maintaining of hens in the process of slaughter, was flagged off by People for Animals at Old Bowenpally on 23rd May 2013.

An awareness meeting was held at the GHMC ward office at old bowenpally. This was presided by the GHMC Asst Dir West Zone, Dr. Abdul Vakil, Dr. Radhakrishna, Dr. Gupta and Sub Inspector of Bowenpally PS, Mohd. Ejajuddin.

Mrs. Vasanthi Vadi, Secretary, PFA, Mr. Dattatreya Joshi, Mr. Srikanth, Mr. Manoj Khurana, Mrs.Janaki, Mrs. Chitra, Mr. Mahesh and some volunteers were present. All chicken shop vendors of Bowenpally actively participated in the proceedings. Dr. Vakil explained about the requirements of a chicken shop as per the GHMC rules. He also explained the penal action that could be taken on errant shop owners. The subinspector explained the law and the action that could be taken under the Prevention of Cruelty Act.

Mrs. Vasanthi Vadi explained about the constitutional rights of the birds and the necessity to uphold the law of the land. Mr.Sreekanth reiterated the do’s and don’ts that ought to be followed by all chicken shop owners.

All the chicken shop owners responded positively and agreed wholeheartedly to follow the rules and not violate the rights of the birds.
